About Andria

Background

I was born and raised here in Juneau, and I am now raising my daughter in this beautiful community. I have worked in education, youth programming, homeless shelters, and domestic violence and sexual assault survivor advocacy. Through my work in many local organizations, I’ve learned important skills like trauma-informed support, harm reduction methods, and effective communication and advocacy for people from various backgrounds.

Doula Journey

I have been drawn to doula work for quite a while—through my experience teaching sex ed I learned a lot about reproduction and the human body’s ability to create and birth babies and I think it is very cool! I researched birth by reading and watching everything I could find before my doula training and I continue my research by reading, listening to podcasts and finding relevant trainings to keep my skills and information updated. If you have a question I don’t know the answer to, I will enjoy researching and finding excellent evidence-based information to share with you.

I completed my doula training in April of 2024 during my first trimester of pregnancy, gave birth to my daughter in December of 2024, and started supporting births in May of 2025. My approach is focused on educating and empowering the birthing person and their partner(s) to become confident and feel ownership over their birth experience. Birth is a vulnerable experience and it’s important to me that every birthing person has the support they need.

I hold strong beliefs that anyone can make a family and love to support clients of all identities. My specialty areas are LGBTQIA+ families, neurodiversity, and Health At Every Size.

I wanted to create a community for birth workers to connect and collaborate, so I founded the Southeast Alaska Birth Collective along with other local doulas. We are in the beginning stages of our work, but there are some exciting things on the horizon!

Other Interests

You can find me singing at Folk Fest or out and about with my 1-year-old. I also enjoy staying cozy at home doing various yarn crafts, snuggling my dog and cat, and spending time with my niece and nephews.
